The coming-of-age story of Jiri, a young man traveling from Trieste to Illmitz to trace his family’s roots.
During the journey, he interacts with a colourful cast of both living and dead characters along the way: his cousin Agnes, who died while crossing the street with her eyes closed to test her guardian angel; his exuberant girlfriend, whose physical presence contrasts his own slender body; Andrea, his childhood friend; ‘Frankenstein’, his bizarre neighbour; and his deceased mother. Throughout his journey, Jiri finds a solution to his sense of inadequacy and fragility.
