A charming, philosophical story of a child obsessed with life’s bigger questions.
Teo is eight years old and all he wants is a happy family. His parents fight all the time, and every battle is a lost ending with slammed doors and tears. So, Teo decides to fight the battle himself, on their behalf. His father gives him a book for his birthday, The Adventures of Napoleon, and the boy becomes convinced that this great strategist, winner of all wars, holds the answers to all his questions. But Napoleon is dead – how can one meet him? And is he in heaven or hell? Teo bombards the adults around him with disarming questions as he tries to make sense of it all: death, good and evil, and God’s silence. His quirky perspective confronts us with the fears we struggle to face – foremost among them, the fear of feeling defeated.
