The Power of Meow

A literary homage to cats and cat lovers.

If Freud had a cat, psychoanalysis would have taken a vastly different turn. It would have evolved more quickly, especially in the subject of countertransference. Although refined listeners, cats are not afraid of countertransference. They are not afraid to fall in love with their patients, or to share a bed with them. They are not ashamed of falling head over heels in love because they do not fear losing their identity. They know that no one can steal their unique essence, their way of being in this world. Think of all we can learn from cats.
