Luce and Pietro are a happily married couple expecting their first child.

During a routine ultrasound, they discover that their son suffers from a rare, genetic illness, a form of dwarfism that will condemn him to a short and painful life.

By law, Luce must continue to carry the child, even though one of them will most likely die during the birth. On Christmas Eve, Luce and Pietro leave for London, where they will decide whether or not to terminate the pregnancy.
