Arnold Schwarzenegger met the Auschwitz survivor Lidia Maksymowicz

Following his visit to the Museum, the former Governor of California also visited the only surviving synagogue in Oświęcim and the Oshpitzin Jewish Museum located there. He also met with an Auschwitz survivor Lidia Maksymowicz. ‘This is a story that has to stay alive, this is a story that we have to tell over and over again,’ Schwarzenegger said after his visit to the Auschwitz Memorial. ‘Let’s fight prejudice together and let’s just terminate it once and for all,’ he said.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s visit was organised by the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation, established in 2000 to commemorate the local Jewish community and to teach about the contemporary dangers of antisemitism and other prejudices.
