Boldwood Books has acquired 12 new authors, all signed with multi-book deals, bringing the publisher’s total number of authors to 204. The new authors include bestselling crime writers Tom Bale and Daniel Sellers, conspiracy thriller author Rob Jones, historical mystery writer John Pilkington and dark psychological thriller writers Michelle Dunne and Teri Terry. Also joining the list is the author of contemporary romantic fiction Frances Mensah Williams, alongside the writer of escapist novels Rachel Barnett and the American small-town community chronicler Tammy Robinson.
Other authors include historical fiction writers Norma Curtis and Patricia Wilson. Boldwood has also been chosen to be the publisher of Scottish saga author Evelyn Hood and entrusted by her Estate with the republishing of 23 of her bestselling novels over a period of 18 months. All the authors have been contracted on multi-book deals and will be published in every format simultaneously in all English-language territories.
The publisher is also now affiliated with the Spanish publisher Grupo Atico for translations, adding to translation partnerships that Boldwood has already set up with the French publisher City Editions, the Dutch publisher Overamstel and the German publisher DP Publishers. Grupo Atico will publish 30 titles a year over the next few years from across the Boldwood catalogue. The deal was brokered by translation rights agent Vicki Satlow.
Amanda Ridout, Boldwood founder and CEO, said: “In our award-winning year we are delighted to have now welcomed more than 200 authors to the Boldwood family and this latest group once again highlights the breadth and quality of our commercial fiction publishing. And to have added the Spanish publisher Grupo Atico to our roster of translation partners means we will be bringing our authors to even more readers in the fourth most popular language in the world.”
