Little Cry Baby
Una storia di Natale
Rosella Postorino
Piangiolina comes from a place where it is never cold and it never snows, until a new friend finds a way to give her and the whole town a snow-white Christmas.
Piangiolina has been crying ever since she was born. Streams of tears run down her cheeks. Sometimes she cries out of sadness, sometimes out of joy, but also out of boredom and disappointment. She cries without knowing why, earning her the nickname Little Cry Baby.
To put her tears to good use, her parents have built a factory where an ingenious machine turns their only daughter’s tears into delicious ice lollies, bouillon cubes, perfume and a thousand other things.
The townspeople are used to the buckets of tears that fall from the child’s eyes, until a new classmate arrives.
Gianni has moved from a faraway town where it always snows at Christmas. When he explains how they play in the soft white snow, Piangiolina’s heart opens wide. Inspired by her own tears, she and Gianni make sure that their next Christmas will be unforgettable.
